Abstract
It is the first time that a statistical law of blackouts is derived from the modeling of blackout mechanism proposed in this letter. An approach is therefore proposed to predict the blackouts for complex systems. Prediction of blackouts for complex networks provides an important reliability index for secure and reliable operations of the networks. The density function of blackouts proposed in this letter gives the possibility of sensitivity analysis of related parameters to the occurrence of blackouts.
