  • Abstract
In this paper a calculation method is shown to estimate the yearly incoming solar radiation. In Hungary there is a static method to calculate the solar heat gain however this method is not suitable for low energy or nearly zero energy buildings because the relevance of solar heat gain grows bigger by the thermal envelope´s increasing thermal resistance. It is necessary to develop a more accurate calculating method. In this paper the solar heat gain calculation is based on geometrical and intensity calculations so a more accurate method is used to determine the solar heat radiation. By knowing the incoming solar radiation it is possible to calculate a building´s yearly solar energy gain. In the case of low energy or nearly zero energy buildings the heat gain in the heating period should be maximized and in the summer period it must be minimized.
