  • Abstract
    We evaluate the effectiveness of hierarchical optical path networks that utilize waveband conversion. A newly developed network design algorithm is presented. Numerical experiments prove that, by employing waveband convertors, hierarchical optical path networks can be more cost-effective than the conventional single-layer optical path networks over a wide range of convertor cost.
