Abstract :
A hybrid optical network which includes an optical broadcast network add an optical circuit switching (OCS) network, can transfer data more efficiently than an OCS network alone in a small area network. However, in an optical broadcast network, data traffic crashes at junction of edge nodes on the tree and much traffic is lost even if the network offered load is low. In this paper, we propose a novel logical topology design that includes the star and bus type networks and prevents collisions at intermediate nodes. We compare the performance of the proposed logical topology with the conventional logical topology and show that the proposed logical topology transfers data more efficiently than the old one.
