Abstract :
My first jump out of an airplane was exhilarating, and is still etched in my memory. I remember staring at the ground beneath my boots and praying for the chute to open. I had a spare chute, but I really didn´t want to have to use it. When my chute fully unfurled, I looked up to check that it had properly deployed. Our parachutes had white and orange nylon panels. One of the training sergeants told us that if we saw a blue panel when checking our deployed parachute, then we should worry. Once I knew the chute was okay, I then enjoyed a peaceful float to the ground.
