Abstract :
Uncoordinated charging of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) will produce a series of negative effects on the electric grid. In order to solve this problem, we have to make smart-charging strategy by knowing PHEV charging characteristics. This paper outlines the impacts of a large number of PHEVs on the electric grid and makes a brief overview of PHEV charging characteristics. The charging strategies proposed in some existing literatures are also commented.
