Abstract
This paper describes a filter bank to eliminate all sorts of possible noises in power line communication channel. The noises that affect the performance of power line communications are mainly impulsive noise, narrow band noise and color background noise. In this paper, a model of power line communication channel (specifically, echo model) is considered. At first an adaptive notch filter is designed to eliminate the color background noise and then an adaptive filter using RLS algorithm is designed and implemented to suppress the impulsive noise and the narrow band noise. It is seen that after using such a filter bank, the information signal that is received at the receiver end is exactly the same as is being transmitted without any bit-error for any length of input bit stream.
