Abstract :
This paper introduces a novel sun-tracker with a unique position detector to gain the maximum power from solar energy. In comparison with other sun trackers, low cost, simplified hardware structure and exact controlling algorithm are advantages of this system. This sun tracker is sensor based tracker. With utilizing more sensors, the accuracy increases and power lost decreases. The power lost is due to misalignment between the solar panel and beams of light. Controlling algorithm is based on a very basic idea which is sundial. With utilizing some trigonometric functions, exact position of the sun can be detected. Utilizing of sundial improves efficiency and flexibility of the tracking system.
