Abstract :
Power Assets Holdings Ltd. (“Power Assets”) is a global investor in power and utility-related businesses. Its wholly-owned subsidiary, The Hongkong Electric Co., Ltd., has been the pillar rock of energy infrastructure supporting the development of Hong Kong since 1889. In the ever-changing business environment, all organizations face various challenges in developing their businesses in a sustainable way. This paper shares how this century-old international energy enterprise tackles these challenges through integrating sustainability into its business model, from vision and strategy to systematic and transparent reporting. To Power Assets, sustainability means fulfilling its role as a caring corporate citizen with initiatives that help build a harmonious society and a greener and sustainable world while at the same time running a successful business. Power Assets has clear vision and mission on sustainability. Its strong corporate governance, supported with a systemic risk management framework, ensures proper management of relevant sustainability issues. Its Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) Committee holistically reviews and plans the company´s CSR policy and activities. The company publishes annual sustainability reports as evidence of its commitment to ensuring broad engagement with stakeholders and conducting business in a transparent and ethical way. With this new business vision and strategy and the support of its stakeholders, Power Assets is confident of overcoming the challenges ahead and continuing to enjoy a bright and sustainable future with its stakeholders.
