Abstract :
In this article physical and technological properties of Zuunmod sand from Tuv province and Altangol sand from Dornod province were determined. Zuunmod sand, Altangol sand as well as concentrated Altangol sand samples were used. This Zuunmod sand is used as a moulding sand. On the basis of chemical investigation it can be concluded that non-concentrated Altangol sand of Dornod, Sumber sum consists of 90.65% SiO2, 0.79% mixture Fe2O3 and 31.6% Na2+ K2O. This result reveals that sand is classified in 4K classification. Also Zuunmod sand consist of 77.51% SiO2, 0.79% Fe2O3 and 6.90% Na2O+ K2O. In addition, content of SiO2 and poisoned mixture can be provided standard. Furthermore, analysis of mineral for moulding sand was determined: Non-concentrated Altangol sand is containing quartz (SiO2) 86.79%, feldspar (NaAlSi3O8) 11.46%, Kaolinite (Al2Si2O5(OH)4) 1.73%; concentrated Altangol sand is containing quartz (SiO2) 90.70%, feldspar (NaAlSi3O8) 4.60%, kaolinite 2.24%, illite 2.44%; Zuunmod sand is containing quartz (SiO2) 50.81%, Albite 46.83%, kaolinite 2.35% respectively.
