Abstract
To achieve a higher level of economic development, the current status of the construction sector, its capabilities and resources should be assessed. Twelve areas are identified as components of strategic growth potential and these are labor potential, labor organization potential, social potential, fixed asset potential, material resource potential, intellectual resource, potential of industrial development, infrastructure potential, investment potential, financial potential, economic potential, and environmental potential. In the study it aims to establish methodological background of the assessment of strategic potential of the construction sector for the formulation of further development strategy of Mongolia.
