Abstract :
A search engine is a program that searches documents using specific keywords on the World Wide Web and return a list of websites where the keywords are found. It has become a major tool for reaching a growing number of social, political, economic, educational, agricultural and cultural domains represented on the Web. Majority of the search engines return various results in which most of them are unnecessary and unrelated to the geographic location of the web user/surfer. This research project aims to create a search engine that prioritizes and gives emphasis on the geographic location of the end user. Geo-based search engine makes use of the allocated IP addresses to each country, the Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) such as .ph for the Philippines, and the registered place of domain names as the basis of gathering documents and datasets during the web crawling activity.
