Abstract :
Isolated power inverters are widely used for supplying power to loads that are not connected to the ac grid, such as isolated commercial or residential loads or in electric vehicles. Analog and digital implementations of integrated circuits for power inverter control have been reported in the literature; all of them are highly dependent of external components or are implemented with digital signal processors that increase their cost. This work presents an Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) able to synthesize a 50/60 Hz sine waveform output to drive a single-phase H-bridge inverter. The ASIC combines low price, low part count and sinusoidal output voltage waveform. The modulation scheme, architecture and experimental results are presented.
