Abstract
This paper investigates the large scale deployment of LTE small cell/femtocell networks. The interplay between the different small cell base stations (BSs) is studied in order to achieve the best user performance taking into account resource allocation, interference mitigation, outage rates, and energy efficiency in the network. A green approach for achieving energy efficiency while meeting the quality of service constraints in both the uplink and downlink directions is proposed and shown to lead to enhanced performance.
