Abstract :
It is needless to say that Power Electronics revolutionized the converter technology which has extended its tentacles. The application areas include Hybrid electric vehicle [2] energy system, Un-interrupted power supplies, Fuel-cell hybrid power systems, Photovoltaic hybrid power systems, Battery chargers. Unified power flow, usage of high rated batteries limit the application of conventional converter and paves the way to the Bi-directional DC-DC converter (BDC). Though the Bi-directional fly-back converter, Isolated and Non-Isolated Bi-directional DC-DC converter, Conventional Bi-directional DC-DC converters are like feather of same bird, yet they suffer from low voltage gains, high voltage stress on switches. Stress on switches is found due to leakage inductance of transformer. In order to overcome the above said drawbacks, the Bi-directional DC-DC converter has emerged with extended features such as usage of coupled inductor and low duty cycle. In order to highlight the benefit of the 70V/210V Bi-directional DC-DC converter, it has been operated with popular RLE load i.e DC motor. The whole process is simulated in MATLAB SIMULINK and their corresponding output waveforms have been generated at every stage.
