  • Abstract
    This paper presents a consensus based traffic network management system. A consensus algorithm is used to control the traffic lights. The traffic lights can cooperatively manage the traffic flow among the whole traffic network. The system aims to average the traffic flow and force the road resources to reach maximum usage around the whole network. As a decentralized system, consensus based traffic management system has no central control. Intelligent traffic lights are located around the whole network. We will prove system stability with control theory. A realistic simulation platform will be built to test the system performance. The results illustrate that the system is flexible, reliable and feasible for practical uses.
