  • Abstract
    Purple fringing is a form of aberration due to the imperfection of optics and sensor. It is an undesirable color fringe that should be removed in a color digital image. This paper proposes a novel method to detect and remove purple fringing in narrow region. Gradient information is used to identify edge transition region, and chromaticity information inside the transition region is used to detect purple fringing. Then, purple fringing is eliminated using the distribution of chromaticity values. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
