Abstract
This paper proposes a joint coding scheme for information advertisement in wireless mesh networks. Random network coding is a technique that can mitigate the effect of a broadcast storm problem. However, it cannot correct bit errors, and it should forward more and more packets to recover bit errors. On the other hand, multi-route coding was proposed to reduce bit errors on wireless channels. This coding scheme can obtain a diversity gain by transmitting multiple coded packets on multiple routes. This paper proposes the joint coding scheme by using random network and multi-route coding to reduce the effect of the broadcast storm problem and bit errors. We evaluate the performance of the proposed coding scheme by simulation. The results show that the proposed scheme improves the transmission delay and packet delivery failure ratio compared with the conventional schemes.
