  • Abstract
The energy consumption of a WBAN system can be divided into three parts: transmitting, sensing and channel switching. Considering the fact that the WBAN system are power-supply limited, the energy-efficient spectrum handoff schemes have been proposed by many previous works, aiming at extending the endurance life of a WBAN system. In this paper, we consider a WBAN system which access multiple PU channels with cognitive radio. An spectrum handoff policy is proposed to balance between energy consumption and network throughput. Based on this, the spectrum access is then implemented by the Greedy algorithm. Our method can obtain proper balance between energy consumption and network throughput. Besides, it also outperforms the existing methods in the sense of both hardware complexity and channel distributions. All the pre-mentioned benefits are demonstrated by the simulation results.
