Abstract :
A Markov chain-based analytical approach is proposed for exploring the nonlinear behavior of TCP in OBS networks. The Maximal Lyapunov Exponents of TCP window size sequences are computed to analyze the impacts of the OBS network parameters on the chaotic behavior of TCP. Through NS2-based simulations, it is shown that the TCP window size in OBS networks exhibits chaotic property, which is affected by the burst loss rate, the burst assembly period, TCP flow rate and maximum window size.
