Abstract :
In this issue we have a special contribution from one of the Founders of the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE) Professional Group on Radio Frequency Interference (PGRFI) which was the forerunner of the IEEE EMC Society. Joseph Fischer, Jr. is still active in the EMC industry as the Chief Executive Officer of the Fischer Custom Communications Corporation. He has written a short and entertaining story about his father and some of his experiences on ??dirigibles, blimps, and hydrogen-filled balloons.?? The story is based on a video interview done by Mr. Hoolihan at the 2013 IEEE International Symposium on EMC in Denver, Colorado. Mike Violette was the man behind the camera at the Symposium and we thank him and his company Washington Laboratories for their contribution. We also need to thank Bridget Catherine Hoolihan Budig for the first transcription of the video interview. Mr. Fischer edited the transcription and the final result is published below. We thank him for his historic and personal contribution to this issue of the EMC Society Magazine.
