  • Abstract
During the 23rd solar cycle, there are a few adverse impact events on power grid due to geomagnetic disturbance (GMD) occurred in the economically developed regions in China. With the development of the Chinese economics, the scale of power grid grow fast, so the safety problem bought by magnetic storm of future power grid has been becoming an important issue. Based on the geomagnetically induced currents (GIC) data measured at Ling´ao nuclear station in Guangdong 500kV power grid and the calculated GIC in 750kV power grid across four provinces in west-north area, and considering the structures and parameters of China 1000kV UHV power grid and the history geomagnetic storm data, we make preliminary estimate on the risk of the future Chinese UHV grid, and point out the issues which need to be paid enough attention for the large-scale power grid when the storm happened.
