Abstract
The impact of forced oscillations on estimating electromechanical mode-shape from time-synchronized phasor measurements is assessed. The mode-shape algorithm is mathematically derived while including a forced-oscillation component. This provides a basis of a hypothesis of how the forced oscillation impacts the algorithm. The hypothesis is tested via a four-machine simulation.
