Abstract :
This paper presents an open-source software, namely SimAGC, for power system dynamic simulation. As its name suggests, SimAGC mainly focuses on system frequency response study and evaluating the performance of automatic generation control (AGC) with detailed modeling of system network, generator, governor-turbine, and the frequency dependence characteristics of loads. In addition, two AGC performance criteria (i.e. CPS1 and CPS2) recommended by North American Reliability Corporation (NERC) are provided for compliance evaluation. The graphic user interface and open architecture makes SimAGC a valuable tool for educational and research purposes.
