Completed careers [Obituaries]

An icon of our EMC community has left us. But what he left behind was an exceptional legacy, especially in the area of EMC standardization. Ralph Showers was with us for such a long period that we came to think he would never leave us and simply continue to impart his exceptional knowledge of so many aspects of EMC measurements, test instrumentation, and a wide variety of standards that have been used for decades. He was a fixture at all our EMC symposia as well as others, especially those held in Europe. As you read the description of his career below, you will come to the same conclusion, i.e. what would we have done without his being with us and sharing his deep knowledge of the basic principles of EMC?
