Abstract :
This paper analyses the energetic performances of an induction heating system for a pipe rolling machine, based on a single-phase resonant voltage inverter. Because this study was started from the experimental measurements taken on a real pipe rolling system, the simulation study was performed based on the measured experimental conditions. Consequently, the system structure was adopted for a given inductor which corresponds to the rolling plant, and for a set of typical pipes parameters. For each pipe, the tank capacitor was chosen according to the working frequency related to the thickness of the processed pipe. In this case, the working frequency equals the resonance frequency of the reactive circuit. The aim of the paper was the performance analysis of the system as well as the power quality analysis at the grid side and at the load side of the system. The simulation results of the voltage source resonant converter compared to the results of the current source resonant converter proved the better performance of the induction heating system based on the voltage inverter. At the same time, the obtained results are validated by the experimental measurements.
