Abstract
This paper presents a regenerative electrostatic energy harvester based on a mechanically-variable capacitor and with no startup battery. We developed a simple model and demonstrated the main design tradeoffs through simulations. The proposed circuit has an improved output power range and can be used to extract from ambient motion the energy needed by small, low-power systems.
