Abstract
This paper proposes a method to optimize the adaptive rate fallback (ARF) algorithm in WLANs for industrial wireless network. The proposed algorithm is based on signal to noise ratio (SNR) information and acknowledgment or block acknowledgment (ACK/BACK) packet from receiver. This feedback “transmitter and receiver pair” method is giving accurate and real time information of the current communication. The current ARF algorithms are mostly consider the packet loss and modify frame in MAC layer only, then change the modulation accordingly. In this proposed method, the modulation technique for next data transmission is changing according to SNR and ACK/BACK information. Simulation results show that the proposed method which implemented in IEEE 802.11g overcomes the current (ARF) threshold in terms of BER and channel efficiency.
