  • Abstract
This paper is aspiring to overcome the disadvantages of dynamic source routing (DSR) protocol. The proposed routing scheme is named as Active Source and Opportunistic Routing scheme (ASOR). This proposed scheme mainly aims to avoid stale route cache problem by repair the route failure locally. If any link failure occurs between the nodes means the previous forwarder node uses the opportunistic routing scheme to find the route to reach the destination. The link residual life parameter is considered while reconstructing the route. But initially source routing is used to route the data packets to the destination to eliminate the loops. The route caching mechanism is not necessary for the proposed scheme. So, the proposed routing scheme provides loop free routing and avoids the stale cache information, reduce delay to reconstruct the route if any route failure occurs.
