  • Abstract
Prior studies mostly focus on the outcomes of realized strategies in the strategic management literature. Very few of them examine how strategies are developed, what affects the firm´s strategic orientation, and how strategic orientation affects firm´s innovation performance. As key factor, top managers provide guidelines and directions for firm´s pivotal strategy decisions. Despite the fact that most strategic orientations are initiated at the top management team (TMT) level, very little is understood about how the TMT diversity influences the strategic orientations. Based on the literature review, this paper summarizes the research achievement of TMT diversity and Strategic orientation. According to the major research direction and the major flaw in prior study, we propose a research framework among TMT diversity, strategic orientation, and innovation performance. Finally, we discuss implications for theory and practice.
