Abstract :
This paper presents an algorithm of mesh simplification based on multi-feature metric guidance. The method preserves crucial visual features information for simplification of mesh generation with high quality. Our algorithm is an extended quadric-error metrics that is based on its geometric and visual characteristics. The proposed method does not require significant computing time to process original data and to analyze geometric shape. Moreover, the method can remain the shape features of models during simplification. The performance and visual quality results of the algorithm are compared with ones of other mesh simplification algorithms, indicating that the proposed algorithm improves the visual shape features and receives a good quality.
