Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop a system of a navigation map targeting users which show variable map according to user´s spatial perception. First, we researched preceding studies about spatial perception, and considered a method to apply research findings to map navigation. Next, we developed a map system which changes viewpoint along the way, then held a demonstration test using this system. Third, we proposed a method of classifying user´s spatial perception into 8 categories by Sense of Direction Questionnaire-Short Form (SDQ-S) as the results of demonstration test. After that, we developed a Map Navigation System Targeting Users which changes a presentation by toggling a viewpoint, a rotation, and a function of alert. In the next demonstration test using this system, the method of classifying users was effective in diminishing rate of getting lost, and shortening the time of finding a way at the starting point. According to the above results, this system was proved to be useful for guiding without getting lost regardless of user´s spatial perception.
