Abstract
A high power EV charging station integrated with active power filter (APF) functionality reduces the grid infrastructure cost and improves grid performance. However, the EV charging station´s closed control loop is nonlinear because of the interaction of the EV charging station with the grid´s impedance. This issue will be investigated in this paper. The paper shows how to transform the problem into a linear, time-invariant (LTI) one. This paper also proposes a method to model the closed-loop EV charging and APF function. This will allow a comprehensive, LTI analysis of the dynamic impact of the charging station to the grid. Furthermore, the conditions of some assumptions are identified, analyzed and validated.
