Abstract :
We propose and demonstrate an electro-optic spatial light modulator using a deep-proton-exchanged waveguide in periodically-poled MgO:s-LiTaO3 thin crystal for UV laser light. The fine pixel profile, the good contrast, and the low driving voltage of 10 V were accomplished at 355-nm wavelength. The waveguide showed stable performances in the mode size and the transmittance at a life test over 1000 h under a light intensity as high as 2.7 kW/cm2.
