Abstract
Mobile computing is increasingly becoming important to business and enterprises, especially SMEs (Small and Medium Size Enterprises). Mobile applications are seen not only as a means to offer enterprise services to clients online but also to improve their operational activity, increase their efficiency and reduce costs. In this paper we take the business perspective by a use case analysis on the mobile applications for SMEs, including the use in mobile teamwork, especially for field work, advertising, costumers profiling and loyalty and in a broader sense on collective intelligence. This range of use cases require mobile applications to be endowed with advanced services such as notification services, data collection, processing, filtering, classification, etc. Additionally, services for coordination and synchronization are needful to support mobile teamwork. The papers identifies several challenges and issues and discusses solutions to the event-based notification, coordination as well as integration services in such applications.
