  • Abstract
    The ability to make powerful and effective oral presentations of research at international conferences is of great importance to researchers and research students. However, it is one of the most challenging competences to acquire for novice researchers and presenters, especially when they are non-native speakers of English, due to lack of experiences and understanding of the oral and written English language of the presentation genre and academic communicative skills. This paper aims to introduce popular presentation structures for various types of academic contexts, logical organization patterns and language expressions used for scientific research, to examine to common weaknesses of inexperienced presenters, and to provide advice for the improvement of high frequency mistakes. Practical teaching and learning materials for successful presentations are provided.
