  • Abstract
    Global scale rapid increase in the number devices and available information over the Internet makes the challenge of information overload inevitable. Information-Centric Networking (ICN) emerges as a shift in paradigm from a host based communication toward networking of information. It aims at using the network layer to provide content to the users instead of providing a communication channel between hosts. This shift in the networking paradigm of ICN brings forth the feasibility of securing the named data for more robust trust model. While the concept of ICN is mainly proposed for the publish-subscriber model and many research works already show its benefits in the data dissemination aspect, the source authentication and data integrity issue with respect to ICN received less attention. In this paper, we address data security of the ICN by proposing an efficient cryptography system based on identity-based cryptography demonstrated by a use-case of data communication in smart grid. Our system utilizes the name of the content as the source to calculate the static public key aligned with a dynamic private key which is refreshed by itself. Our analysis shows the efficiency and security of the system.
