Abstract
This paper illustrates industrial power wheeling with a case study of an industrial belt in Udyogamandal near Ernakulam, Kerala, India. A comparative study has been conducted under conditions of with and without power wheeling under the TOD tariff followed by the industry. In the present power scenario, combined heat and power generation or captive generating units are not considered under the prospects of Availability Based Tariff (ABT) because of the uncertainties in scheduled generation. A model has been proposed for optimal power interchange under ABT for self generating units. The constraints are included on the basis of the various load and generating conditions of the captive generation of all the concerns included in the wheeling arena. The proposed model helps to encourage power wheeling and power export by bringing captive generation under ABT.
