  • Abstract
Compact waveguide section generating a singlet is proposed. It is a rectangular waveguide section with two uneven transversal ridges. It is studied in details within the frames of the spectral theory of open waveguide resonators in order to reveal a physical nature of its resonant filtering function. A transmission zero generation is interpreted as known “trapped-mode” resonance. The resonance features are defined by the peculiarities of the spectrum of natural oscillations of the waveguide section. Strict agreement between scattering and spectral characteristics is reported.
