Abstract :
This paper explores the bifurcation behavior of a buck-boost converter. Unlike the previous research, the nonlinearity of the MOSFET and the diode are taken into account when modeling the dynamic equations of the converter. In the simulation, bifurcation points are computed and compared with the ones calculated with the piecewise-linear model and the software SIMPLIS. The simulation results reveal that our model best represents the true behavior of the converter. Moreover, engineers can predict more precisely the occurrence of instability with this model.
