Abstract :
In this paper, a novel cheeseholes type Hemispherical Dielectric Resonator Antenna (HDRA) is proposed. The name has been coined due to the similarity it draws in appearance with a Swiss cheese cube. Here, array of slots are drilled periodically along the three Cartesian axis of the HDRA. In doing so, the bandwidth of operation increases from 10.4% to 25% with a gain of 6.2 dBi at the resonant frequency. The resonant frequency is 2.53 GHz and it excites the TE111 mode. The resonant frequency is most suitable for standard wireless communications with wide band applications.
