  • Abstract
Computer documentary raises more interest and often resorts to various tools of formalization and representation. To assist users in developing and maintaining ontologies a number of tools have been developed. This paper presents the OPN-OntEd (Object Petri Nets Ontology Editor) software which is a Java-based application permitting creation, edition and exploration of ontologies particularly bio-ontology. In this system, ontology is represented in the Petri nets format that allows verification of formal properties and qualitative and quantitative simulation. OPN-OntEd is validated in various domains to confer on this system the generality. In this paper the illustration of our tool is made in biological domain when we create and edit the effect of estrogen on mammary epithelial cells. Also, it is evaluated when we explore existing ontology "composing queries to discover relationships among processes and structural components of OntoCell ontology".
