    Yakov Shirman received the 2009 AESS Pioneer Award on October 14, 2009 at the International Radar Conference, held in Bordeaux, France for his pioneering contributions of: ??Independent discovery of matched filtering, adaptive filtering and high-resolution pulse compression to a whole generation of Russian and Ukrainian operational radars, based on demonstration and operational use in the P-12 and PRV-10 radars??.
