Abstract
This paper presents the results of using a fault tolerant control scheme, based on integral sliding modes, on a nonlinear aircraft benchmark model. The integral sliding mode longitudinal controller is designed based on an LPV system representation in order to guarantee stability and performance over a wide range of the flight envelope. In order to handle actuator faults and failures, the control signals from the faulty actuator are automatically redistributed to the remaining healthy actuators using a control allocation scheme. The simulation results based on the full nonlinear aircraft benchmark model show good tracking performance for various types of faults/failures over a wide range of the flight envelope.
