Abstract
A new decentralized controller for inverters supplying a multi-bus microgrid is developed in this paper. This method improves the operational stability by minimizing the output voltage and angle differences between IIGs. The principle of the proposed controller is different from the conventional (frequency targeted) droop based decentralized method as it emulates a regular grid-connected inverter with output power targeted control, permitting a mode-adaptive operation for both grid-connected and islanded state. Simulation in PSCAD/EMTDC verifies its improved operational stability regardless of the inverter output impedance, compared to the conventional droop based decentralized controller.
