Abstract :
Clitoria ternatea L. known as butterfly pea belongs to the Fabaceae family. Previous study has shown that the leaves of Clitoria ternatea L. possess hypoglycemic effect on alloxan-induced diabetic mice. The present study was aimed to elucidate the antihyperglycemic activity of butterfly pea leaf powder which obtained by using spray drying. The carrier agent type consisted of skim milk and maltodextrin. Daily administration of spray dried powder (200 mg/kg body weight) obtained from the spray drying in which maltodextrin as the carrier agent showed hypoglycemic effect towards the blood glucose level of alloxan-diabetic mice.
