Abstract
The switching losses of a AC-DC matrix converter (MC) is determined not only by the physical characteristics of the switching devices but also by the operation principle. This paper studies the switching losses of the space vector modulated AC-DC MC. The switching losses of conventional switching patterns are compared using a measurement-based analytical model. Then two optimal switching strategies are proposed to reduce the switching losses. Simulation and experiment are implemented for evaluation. The results verified the effectiveness of the proposed strategies.
