Abstract :
This paper introduces the new concept of an active compensator augmented diode bridge rectifier wind system. The active compensator is used to inject reactive power to optimize the generator operation by adjusting the q- and d-axis currents to the optimal operating points. The size of the active compensator is a fraction of the full rating of the system. Therefore, the proposed idea is able to offer a cost-effective and optimal wind generator-power electronics solution. In this paper, the control method of the proposed system is also discussed. The introduced concept is verified with simulation results.
