Abstract
The latest inventory systems for traffic signs are based on image processing which implement complex algorithms to detect and recognize the traffic signs. These algorithms depend on factors frequently changing, like the lightness, which decreases the system performance. In this paper it is presented a new system for inventory of the traffic signs using passive RFID technologies where the signs have a passive RFID Tag which contains the sign information, so the signal is included in the inventory itself. Moreover, different effects that reduce the performance of wireless systems like the multipath fading or the effect of metallic or watery environments are analyzed.
