Abstract
Nowadays DSP processor based beamformers are very common. But when the data rate to the beamformer is comparable to that of the speed of the DSP processor used for beamforming, the design becomes highly challenging. The beamformer subsystem employed in oversampled sonar demands large memory requirements and very high speed. This paper presents the implementation of a high speed oversampled single bit beamformer using three ADSP TigerSHARC TS201 processors. High-speed for single bit beamformer is achieved using vector based solution. The design has been implemented and tested in lab using octal TigerSHARC PCB with Gigabit Ethernet interface.
